1. What this tool does
The Import Duty & Landed Cost Calculator estimates duty, Merchandise Processing Fees (MPF), Harbor Maintenance Fees (HMF), and total landed cost based on the shipment value, freight cost, and duty rate you provide, combined with general country-level trade data we maintain (such as typical Section 301, Section 122, and Section 232 treatment). It is designed to give importers, e-commerce sellers, and dropshippers a fast, directionally accurate planning number.
2. What this tool does not do
This calculator does not:
- Perform or substitute for an official Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification of your product;
- Account for product-specific antidumping or countervailing duty (AD/CVD) orders;
- Account for exclusions, exemptions, or country-specific trade actions that apply to particular HTS subheadings rather than a country as a whole;
- Reflect holds, examinations, or additional requirements from other government agencies (such as the FDA, USDA, or CPSC) that may apply to your specific product;
- File, transmit, or submit any customs entry to CBP on your behalf; or
- Guarantee that displayed duty rates, fee amounts, or trade-program statuses are current at the moment you use it.
3. Trade policy changes quickly
US import duty rates and de minimis treatment are subject to frequent change through executive action, federal rulemaking, trade negotiations, and litigation. Rates and rules referenced on this site — including Section 301 tariffs on China-origin goods, the Section 122 global surcharge, Section 232 metals tariffs, and the suspension of Section 321 de minimis treatment — may be modified, extended, reduced, or struck down after this page was last updated. We make reasonable efforts to keep our data current but cannot guarantee it reflects the rules in effect on your shipment's entry date.
4. Your responsibility as an importer
As the importer of record (or the party relying on this tool to price goods), you remain solely responsible for correctly classifying your goods, declaring accurate values, and paying all duties, taxes, and fees owed under US law. Misclassification or underpayment of duty — even if based on a good-faith estimate from a tool like this one — can result in penalties, delayed shipments, or seizure. Before filing any customs entry, or before making a significant pricing or sourcing decision based on projected duty costs, confirm the applicable HTS classification and duty rate with a licensed customs broker or directly with CBP.
5. No professional relationship created
Using this calculator, reading this site, or contacting us does not create a broker-client, attorney-client, or any other professional advisory relationship between you and us. We are an independent publisher of reference tools, not a licensed customs broker, freight forwarder, or law firm.
6. No liability for reliance
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for decisions made in reliance on this calculator's output, including pricing decisions, sourcing decisions, or customs entries filed based on estimated figures. See our Terms of Service for the full limitation of liability.
